Prayer
to Our Lady of Africa asking for missionary vocations

Our
Lady of Africa by
Sr. Gloria Sedes
|
|
Our
Lady of Africa,
remember all the peoples of Africa.
You
were present with the Apostles
at the beginning of the Church.
Be present with the apostles of today
that they may proclaim the Good News
of Jesus Christ, your Son.
Help
us to know and love Jesus,
Help us to follow Him faithfully,
Help us to care for one another.
Our
Lady of Africa,
may your Son, Jesus Christ
choose and send new missionaries
to Africa and to the whole world. Amen

You can dedicate part of your energy, your resources
and your time to opening your Church, your society,
your family to the realities of Africa, to
the needs of the mission, and to foster readiness
in Western societies for greater openness in welcoming
African and other immigrants coming into your country...
You
can also disseminate information from magazines and
other sources, related to the Missionary Sisters of
Our Lady of Africa, and help young people to come
in contact with the MSOLA, the better to know their
mission. In that way you can become a missionary vocation
animator, opening young people to the needs of Africa
and the mission and helping them to hear God's call.

Collaborating with the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady Africa
in projects of
Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation
The
MSOLA are committed to work towards the transform of the
world "according to God's plan", where the values
of the Kingdom are practiced. A world where solidarity,
equity, respect for the human person, and development for
all are made possible.
The
Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa are part of "Africa-Europe
Faith and Justice Network" (AEFJN). They take an active
part in campaigns organized by AEFJN, and different Justice
and Peace Commissions and organizations dedicated to promote
the respect of Human Rights, eradication of poverty, and
integral and sustainable development,...
The
sisters have collaborated actively in different campaigns:
-
To eliminate the External Debt of African countries,
- to
sign the Treaty against land-mines.
- to
raise the military recruitment age to 18 years, so as
to prevent involvement of child soldiers
- to
establish controls for trafficking in weapons
- to
ask for legal recognition of migrants and refugees.
- to
respect the rights of refugees and internally displaced
persons.
- for
the eradication of Poverty
- to
work for Peace and commitment to active nonviolence.
- to
develop a "culture of peace"
- to
obtain fair and equitable conditions of trade for African
countries
- etc............................................................................
If
the injustices in the world, the situations of conflict
and war, the destruction of the environment, do not leave
you indifferent, YOU CAN JOIN the MSOLA in their commitment
for a world where Justice and Peace will reign and where
the integrity of creation will be respected.

Facilitating the adaptation of the African migrants
in the Western world.
Many
Africans come to Europe and America, to escape
the difficulties of wars, persecution and simply
to look for better conditions of life.
Many
of them meet with great difficulties when they
arrive to the Western countries. Western societies
are not always welcoming through lack of knowledge
or fear, ...
|
|
|
|
|
|
The
MSOLA, together with many other missionaries, collaborate
with the
different organizations in order to help them to integrate
in the country they have come to. This
collaboration with organizations that are helping African
migrants is a way of living the missionary vocation for
Africa.

Opening up Church and society to the reality of Africa,
to the African Church
and to the presence of Africans in the Western world
|
Not
only do we need to work with Africans, to help them to integrate
in their new country, but we also have to assist Western
societies to be open to "the other, different".
The movement must be two-way.
A certain
number of lay people live their missionary vocation as a
commitment to this "mutual discovery", and
"mutual acceptance".To foster this mutual knowledge,
they promote "partnerships", organize events to
facilitate encounters, to appreciate the other's culture,
food, folklore, situation,... They organize intercultural
and interreligious groups of discussion, of interest...
Ex. interreligious groups of women, of professionals, intercultural
parents organizations, holiday camps, etc.
