THE MSOLA AT WORK
Missionary Commitment at the service of Africa

The situation of Africa today is a constant challenge
to live our missionary charism

Mission is a road
we travel day by day
with our sisters and brothers
constantly growing towards our true humanity.

Mission is a journey
on which we become together children of the Father

The vision and the challenges the MSOLA meet:

We see the importance of work " on the spot ", in this presence very near to the people even when our action remains very limited. We are not tourists, we want to last ….

The respect for all people calls us to work for justice and self-development.

We want to serve the needs of the population and help them to better their living conditions.

We share responsibility with our African collaborators who have often the main responsibility.

We try to elaborate solutions that will include as much participation as possible from the villagers.

To help men and women to become aware of their personal dignity, to help them to recreate a more favourable environment: isn't that to promote the Kingdom here and now?

In our work we foster a sustainable development and respect for God's creation and the right of future generations to enjoy the ressources of the earth.

To be a " sacrament of the presence of Jesus " in the world.Moslem believers are to be found in all countries. Realities such as a secularized society or islamic fundamentalism can be a challenge to them and a call to live their religious values differently. This evolution opens up new perspectives in our mutual relationships

.

OUR CHALLENGES

The urgency of the numerous needs is a constant challenge to live our missionary charism.

Certain Church leaders in Africa are defending the oppressed and victims of injustice at the cost of their own lives. With them we are committed to work for Justice and reconciliation .

External and interior factors have increased the situations of distress in Africa (extreme poverty, conflicts, violence, corruption, fundamentalist movements,...). As congregation we have taken the option to build a culture of peace. Through our work with refugees, victims of violence , street children

Christians in Africa are aware of their responsability in the realities of the Continent. We are involved in the formation of leaders and christian communities.

Countless African women are struggling courageously to find means of survival for their families. Through our participation in women's groups and projects for self-reliance we contribute to a more human society.

After having seen the consequences for Africa of "women trafficking" some of our sisters are involved in organizations which provide women with assistance and protection.

The mobility of today's society allows the encounter of people from different cultures, countries and religions. Tensions and conflicts can arise when faced with this pluralism. Our commitment in theinter-religious dialogue helps us to be bridge-builders and to promote mutual understanding and respect .

Infectious diseases - including HIV/AIDS - are ravaging the African continent. Our sisters accompany the AIDS victims and their families, care for the orphans and work towards the change of laws and situations to obtain medecines and health care for all.

Young people in Africa are searching for meaning. The sisters are committed in youth ministry and helping street children to be integrated into society.

God's salvation has to be Good News for all. Body and spiritual dimensions are integral part of human beings. In this holistic approach sisters care for the needs of the body and the spirit. Many of our sisters are involved in the health, education and spiritual dimension.
